Wojnicz is located along the international road from Krakow to Przemyśl and along the national road towards Warszawa and Nowy Sącz, owing to which the commune can boast convenient transport conditions.
Wojnicz is one of the oldest towns is south-eastern Poland. Before it was granted a town charter (most probably in 1239), since 12th century Wojnicz had been a castellan’s settlement. The town’s urban layout has been preserved in fact in an unchanged condition until today and it is registred in the national register of historic monuments of Małopolskie Voivideship. The town’s precious elements comprise: the town’s centre (Main Square), St. Leonard Church, St. Lawrence Church, palace complex with a park, historic and traditional buildings, relics of the fortification, in the form of embankments, buttresses, and moat remnants. On 1st January, 2007, Wojnicz regained its town charter, lost 72 years earlier.
